Jay Shechtman
Congratulations to Jay Shechtman, 2009 Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
See full press release here. See awards-event pictures on Facebook.
Jay Shechtman caught the entrepreneurial spirit in the fifth grade while watching his siblings tutor other children after school. This desire to help students succeed academically drove Jay to establish You Ask, We Tutor!, a student-run company which he started four years ago. Unlike other tutoring services, Jay employs only student tutors based on his belief that they can better connect with their peers.
Additionally, Jay’s company uses online capabilities to effectively cater to customers. Students can make appointments through a specialized online booking system which can be accessed at www.YouAskWeTutor.com. On the Web site, there are short bios of the tutors and their areas of expertise, as well as pricing information and testimonials. As a result of his company’s efforts, Jay reports that customers have experienced an over 90 percent improvement rate on test scores and in classroom performance. In the near future, You Ask, We Tutor! will be adding both SAT and ACT college preparatory test classes. Jay hopes to place a tutor in every school district across the country. He also wants to give back to the community someday by offering tutoring lessons free of charge.

Can’t state enough how important the entrepreneurial spirit is.
Curious if anyone has caught this book yet? “The Richest Man in Town” by W Randall Jones. I’ve read half of it so far and let me tell you it is well worth it. Would like to hear what everyone else thought of it?
