Creating a new generation of entrepreneurs is one of this country’s greatest needs; that is why we are so excited to open the scholarship process to a new class of young entrepreneurs. Each year, the quality of applicants who have pursued the scholarships is extremely impressive and this year, our expectations are even higher. We at the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation could not be more confident in our next generation of business owners. Any high school senior with a budding business and an innovative spirit is encouraged to apply.
The National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation (YEF) awarded budding business owners its highest honors, naming Lei Lei Secor the 2014 Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Zach Haney, the inaugural Dan Danner Leadership Award winner. As the winner of YEF’s top two prizes, Ms. Secor, who resides in Hagaman, NY, will receive a $15,000 educational scholarship to attend the University of Virginia, and Mr. Haney, who resides in Topeka, KS will receive a $15,000 educational scholarship to attend Washburn University.
The National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation (YEF) awarded budding business owner, Shea Gouldd, its highest honor, naming her the 2013 Young Entrepreneur of the Year. As the winner of YEF’s top prize, Ms. Gouldd, who resides in Boynton Beach, Fla., will receive a $10,000 educational scholarship. Ms. Gouldd was selected from an impressive group of finalists from around the country, each of whom received a $5,000 scholarship as recognition of their business endeavors.
NFIB Announces 2012 National “Young Entrepreneur of the Year”: Oceanside, CA Teenager Recognized with $10,000 Scholarship
Catherine Mitchell of Oceanside, CA, has been named the 2012 Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Mitchell, the founder of Beauty 4 Life, a socially-minded business that sells jewelry handcrafted by Ugandan women, was awarded a $10,000 scholarship.
Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded 2,095 scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling $2,382,000. Students are encouraged to apply for our awards beginning October 1, 2011 and may apply until December 15, 2011.
In recognition of his work in becoming a leading seller of custom miniature skateboards in the United States, Dillon Morgan of Westlake Village, California, has been named the 2011 Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation.
